I Can't Believe How Easy These Were To InstallDo you have a sloted screw driver and a 3 foot non-metallic (read: wood) stick? Then you will have no problem installing these. Forget the sockets, wrenches, torx and inverted torx drivers the Chrysler loves to use. Prop up the hood in the middle with the non-metallic stick (just to be sure you don't arc the battery terminals). Pop out one metal retaining ring on each end of the strut with a slotted screw driver and pull the old supports out. Take note which side the rod protrudes from the housing. The retaining rings on the new struts are already in place and don't need to be removed. Just align the hole on the strut to the peg on the hood and pop them in. Then give them a little tug to make sure they hold. You won't be disappointed with the quality either. They hold firm and operate well. One word of warning: Make sure you keep the stick propping up the hood in place while you do the second strut. Thought the first one may seem like it is holding...
Easy Install
Removal of old hood struts and installation of Strong Arm struts took less than five minutes with only a screw driver. Strong Arm struts were an exact match for the originals.
works perfectly
I got this for my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, and it fit perfect. You only need a screwdriver to pry out a small clip. My hood only wouldn't hold up in cold weather, so I only replaced one strut, and that was plenty.

Truly Universal and a Perfect FitThis is a fairly simple task. It took me about 30 minutes start to finish, but I had all the tools in easy access and am pretty handy. It took longer to write this review than to replace the 2 struts. You may read that for some applications there are a left and right strut. If you look at struts on your tailgate, you will see a left sticker (blue) and a right sticker (red) on the 2 struts. The 4699 has a blue sticker and fits (lines up to) the left side perfectly. It will also fit the right side, but you have to do 1 thing so it will fit (line up): rotate the cylinder 1/4 turn counter clockwise. I did this by putting the rod end (JUST the clevis part) in a vice (gently very tighten) and turning the cylinder with my hand 1/4 turn ccw. The mechanism is not very tight, but it was tight enough so I couldn't hold the shiny rod end. DO NOT TIGHTEN THE VICE ON THE SHINY ROD; if you do you will have ruined the assembly. Works Great, Need a 2nd Person to Help Install
I got 2 of these to replace the lift supports on the back hatch for a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It definitely helps to have a 2nd person to help hold open the hatch (even though we used a ladder to put under it to hold it up). I screwed in the top screw partially and then was able to use my hands to rotate the bottom part to the proper angle to use this item for either the left side or the right side. Actually both sides needed adjusting a little bit for me to use them, even though they had a blue sticker and were closer to be aligned for the left side as they came "out of the box". It was also a little tricky getting the 2nd screw started...had to get the hatch open just the right amount to have it lined up perfectly....that's where the 2nd person helps also. But once installed, it works great (and I'm no mechanic) !!
Works great and easier to install
This fits both the right and left side. For me I had to adjust it for the left side. I was able to adjust it by hand. If you have someone to help you hold the liftgate then it is pretty easier to do yourself. Just use a ratchet with a T40 attachment and save yourself at least $100 from what a dealer would charge. It took about 20 minutes to do.

A Must Have!!!
If you have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee this is the one accessory that is a must. Depending on your choice of trim level on your GC there are chrome accents that unless you want all scratched this mat will protect. Also, this mat is easily removed for cleaning out accumulated dirt in the cargo area; it catches most dirt and helps prevent sliding of objects in back area. Oh did I add that it looks great too?

Not as good as expected
The product indicates its OEM quality, which presummable would imply that it covers as much if not more than the factory carpet mats. So I would think. The front mats were pretty good but the rear mats left much to desire when it comes to covering the floor surface. Prior to purchasing the product I had review other customers comments which implied the fit was perfect but I disagree when it comes to the rear mats.

I am thinking about buying a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee it is a special edition 4WD, it has 46,000 miles on it, 6cylinder, 4.0L engine, has everything leather seats, sunroof heated seats. Was Just wondering on more opionions on Jeep Cherokee.
You didn't mention the asking price. I'm sure you've checked the blue book. As for the vehicle, it's the best damn vehicle I ever bought. It's got the 4.0L straight six. That engine has been around for over 50 years (carburated in the old days).

The regular Cherokee was a mid-size suv. Grand Cherokee is a full size vehicle. Not sure which year but they did away with the regular Cherokee a few years ago and started making the Jeep Liberty ( I think around 2001-2002, but not sure).

I had been following this forum online since 2007 july fiasco & this forum had given me lot of knowledge & helped me out to make the right decission whenever I was underguided or misguided by lawyers (very unfortunate though that we spend a lot on... they thought it is a 3 yr course and denied it. i did education eval and sent them all the semester marksheets, degree certificate (which i had sent in original I140 application as well) again along with the eval. all the hardships i went thru in my engg just flashed thru my eyes when they said they did not find it equivalent to their course done here. I will always try to do my best if my knowledge can help any person like me who falls as a pray in the hands of immigration people. Filed 485 in July 2007. Thanx a lot for your compliment. For october 2008 I will be done with 4 years of H1b....
