Great product for the price
After my house was broken into I wanted to get an alarm but didn't want to pay any companies or commit to any monitoring contracts. This fit the bill perfectly. It works great once you plan around some caveats.Pros: very simple operation. I've only had it two weeks but seems reliable so far. Easy to set up. The remote works well, but it's too bulky for me to carry around. So I just use a PIN code when I come and ago. I love the flexibility of this system. It's easy to add sensors or accessories. Compared to a pro alarm, the stuff is very cheap but built decently. It doesn't quite have the build quality "feel" of a pro system but it's simple and for the money works well. I love how it's all wireless. I"m a renter and don't want to drill holes or pull wire in walls and this is perfect.Cons: The control panel (SC-001), PIN pad and siren are all one unit. If a crook breaks in and smashes it to bits during the 30 seconds on a delayed entry alarm it will be...
So Far, So Good
At the time of writing this review I have only had the system up and running for about a month. So far, I have not yet had any problems, and don't anticipate any to come up. I would rate this product with 5/5 stars, but a few minor things kept me at a 4/5, even though I am very satisfied with this product.First, be aware that the system comes with only a few pieces, and you will most likely need to buy extra motion sensors and/or door sensors if you own a house. I personally - after inquiring of the company - bought two SC-100 systems so that I would have extra sensors and because I was informed that they are compatible and work together. This is mostly correct. The two systems can be programmed so that all of the sensors activate both alarms at the same time (and therefore you have two separate alarms sounding, making it all that much more difficult for any crooks to disable), but both can only be activated or deactivated SIMULTANEOUSLY if you are using the remote clicker...
Great except for Dialer & battery Life
Purchased this product in October 2008.1st let me say that my setup for this product is as follows:Two complete system control panels in operation. (unexpected repeat purchase)Three motion sensors in operation. (all three pre-programmed to both control panels)Only one of the two dialers is in operation, & that one I programmed to only one of the two control panels.I have not chosen to install the door/window sensors... as the motion sensors cover the area used to approach the doors, & I have lots of windows. The Good:If you have a consistent electricity supply & no long (>10 minute) blackouts, the batteries will keep you going but you'll need to change them. The Bad:If your electricity supply isn't so steady, you may need to plug the control panel & dialer AC power supplies into a UPS. (e.g. APC)Sometimes I have to re-program the dialer to the control panel.Maybe it's just...

Better than expected!
I did not want to spend $30/month on a monitored system that only includes two door sensors and one motion detector. By comparison, a wireless system might only cost $30/YEAR in batteries and replacement double sided tape. But up until now, it seems like none of the DIY systems out there are expandable enough to do everything I need them to do on a moderate size house (2500 SF). AAS appears to have finally filled that void in the marketplace with a programmable, customizable, and interestingly expandable system that does almost everything a homeowner would want it to do.I purchased the AAS 600 Pet Immune system, which included an ample supply of door/window sensors and pet friendly motion detectors. It took me an afternoon to set up (mostly due to me playing with the sensors and planning where I wanted to put things). So far, it's better than I expected. Programming is EASY. The instructions are okay (I had no issues). I feel I need to add some helpful information...
AAS 600 Review
This is a very reliable system. I installed the system in approximately 3 hours and it was set to go for self monitoring. My plan was to have it monitored by our police department since they do it for free. The only problem I encountered was the system required additional code that AAS could not provide.I had to take a trip after the system was installed. Three days into the trip I received a phone call that the system was tripped. I called the police department, they checked the house and confirmed the false alarm. I had my daughter check the house and she found one of the door sensors were on the floor (adhesive tape did not hold the unit and it was laying on the floor which caused the false alarm).I am returning this unit ONLY because it can not be monitored by my police department. For self monitoring to call you while you are out it is an excellent system and price is very reasonable.People at AAS are very friendly and knowledgeable in solving the problem I...
AAS 600 Review
This AAS alarm system is easy to install and has many good features. We have been using it for over a year and are happy with the system. The door/window sensors attach with an adhesive, but I used little screws to make them more secure after I read that someone had a false alarm after one of the sensors became detached. Although I like the system very much (and therefore have given it 5 stars), the system is not perfect and it is important to be aware of the shortcomings:1) We have had one false alarm and it was during a thunderstorm. I suspect thunder set off the break-glass sensor. We stopped using that sensor and have had no further problems.2) The instructions that came with the system are barely adequate. Fortunately the support service is good (I only contacted them by email). I suspect that there are many undocumented features. After I emailed the company, they told me about one: The sirens can be used to signal activation/deactivation of the...

New software is a huge improvement
Bought this system to warm up my car before getting in during the winter. First of all, the command to start my vehicle works MAYBE 50% of the time. Secondly, there is no confirmation on whether your vehicle received the command or not, so generally, I trudge through the snow only to be surprised to find my truck still icy and unstarted. I've had to resort to using the keychain remote starter (instead of my iPhone) which completely negates the purpose of this overpriced piece of garbage. AVOID at all costs.Just wanted to update my review....since my initial review above, Viper has released a new version of the software which now sends a confirmation back to you if your vehicle has received the command. This is night and day difference as compared to the old software. I would not hesitate to recommend thie Viper SmartStart system to anyone and am changing my review to 4 stars. (Minus 1 star for cost).
What a waste of money (review updated)
This SOUNDED like such an awesome idea. No keyfob to carry, unlimited range...price was a bit more than a traditional remote start, and annual service fees, but that seemed ok for the benefits.Except that it only works about 25% of the time. It's not that you think the car is started, but it's not, it's very good about telling you when the start command is received by the car or not...it's just that it fails to send the command. My experience is no amount of retrying is going to make it work either, I've spent 30+ minutes hitting the button over and over (takes about a minute to timeout) and never had success. Either it works, or it's not going to work. The installer shop suggested I add on an antenna and keyfob remote since the cellphone interface is so unreliable. So I can pay MORE, and get less functionality...awesome.I've seen other reports of people claiming they were told they've oversold capacity and can't keep up...but last I checked, they're...
Works GREAT!
I was debating ovoiding this product since the reviews seemed pretty bad, but Im glad I decided to go with this unit. I have had it in for about 3 weeks and it has worked 100% of the time - It has yet to miss a remote start from my office or house, I have also started it from the mall when I was shopping over the Christmas season. Every feature works great - I highly suggest this system to anyone who has a smartphone and wants a remote start.

Should I get a good alarm system for my Mazda 3?

The car comes with anti theft deterrent light indicator that flashes every 30secs when it's parked. But it doesn't have an alarm system installed. Should I get a good alarm system like Viper? I'm a little concerned since my Accord got broken in twice

I have never been a big fan of car alarm systems, I have been a bigger fan of a great car insurance policy. With all due respect, a car alarm system will not be much help, rather the situation of the neighborhood and community the car resides makes all

PhantomLink Provides Do-It-Yourself Alternative to Security System Monitoring

Although many homes have security systems installed, many homeowners opt to leave these systems unmonitored due to the high cost of monthly service fees and the high probability of false alarms. New technology allows customers to monitor existing home and/or vehicle security systems via web, email, text messages.
