Ranks with the elite radar detectors in performance
I got the Vector 995 because its performance is at par with the top of the line radar detectors from Bel, Escort, Valentine. Even though I rarely speed above general traffic flow, speed enforcement has picked up a lot and I didn't want to pay back-door taxes. Its radar detection performance is at par with the best of them - usually just 5% or so less than the best for a given test. But the cost difference is way more than 5%, more like 25%+. Its laser detection is its weakness, but only when compared to the top of the line models. However, the laser detection weakness isn't really critical because laser guns are so fast and accurate that the officer has already clocked your speed before even the detector alerts (even the best one). Don't take my word for it, just go ask your local police officer. Also, the rear facing sensor is quite useless on most detectors - someone in marketing thought it would be cool and all other brands followed. It is also one of the very few...
Well... no tickets so far!
If this is your first Radar Detector, it takes a little getting used to. I've had my Beltronics 995 for about a year or so now. It's been quite useful. It will NOT save you if you pass a cop and he decides to tag you. I lucked out one night when the cop couldn't find a place to turn around quickly enough when he waited until I was right next to him (going to the other way) when he turned his radar on. Do NOT think any radar detector is an excuse to drive however you feel... you WILL regret it.Also, banks, gas stations and a lot of other little things will set the Beltronics 995 ablaze with lights and sounds. If you're in one area, and can learn where the bands are, this radar detector becomes VERY useful. A good example... I got X band in an area where I always got K band... sure enough, there's a cop sitting right there. Also, the voice saying the band is kind of useful, as I don't have to look at it.The Beltronics 995 offers a wide range of bands...
BEL Vector 995 great!
I've had this for about a week, and it seems to be working very well. The "autoscan" feature is very nice since I seemed to forget to switch between "city" and "highway" with my older units. The voice prompts are very clear, and the automute keeps the annoying beeps to a comfortable level.I've had several radar detectors over the years, and this one certainly seems to be the best so far. It is also rated very highly in the amgazine articles I found.

Feeling the Android/HTC Love (aka: iPhone who?)
This is my first smartphone. I'm not typically a laggard, but I've been waiting for the PERFECT phone. Is this it? No. I give it 4 stars out of 5, but the reasons for the demerit are minor and are not unique to this phone. It's the most perfect phone (for me) out there. I've played with iPhones (3g, 3gS, 4), and other Google phones (G1, Nexus One, Galaxy S, Droid X), and this phone is what I've been waiting for.I've had it for almost a week now and no regrets.Pros:- Android is just #$%&@! incredible. It's so intuitive. I had facebook and gmail up and running within seconds of turning the phone on for the first time.- The build quality is great. The phone has a really solid feel (especially compared to Galaxy S and VZ Droid X).- Fast, fast, fast. Web, messaging, apps, downloads, uploads... Just fast. I was worried about the 800 mhz processor, especially with 1 Ghz and dual core's coming out over the next few months, but I can't...
As good as it possibly gets
I've spent hours testing and playing with various smartphones, and my conclusion was that the T-mobile G2 was simply the best. My previous phone was a pretty basic Motorola, and after trying the G2, iPhone4, Evo 4G, Samsung Vibrant and the Droid 2, I decided that the G2 is the best choice out of them all if I were to move up to a smartphone and there's only one phrase to describe why:User Friendliness. The Android OS on this phone is as basic as it gets, meaning there's no other software that clutters your interface and slows down your phone. This latest version of Android known as Froyo (or version 2.2) allows the OS to be compatible with almost all of the latest apps on the market meaning there's little worry about compatibility. The buttons and touchscreen are all very responsive, and there is virtually no delay in opening programs/app or browsing the phone. The charger plug is mini-usb, which means it's compatible with many chargers by other manufacturers...
First foray into Android
Had this phone for a week now, got it at T-Mobile with new service. Stepping up from a Nokia N-Series there certainly is a learning curve but I wouldn't go back now. I'll start by going over some device specific stuff as that's what review readers are probably most interested in, then I'll comment on Android 2.2 and a quick bit about my experience with T-Mobile.The ability of this device as an app machine is phenomenal, strictly as a phone its not so good as the Nokia or any other phone I've had. The speaker is terrible, speaker phone functionality is a joke, its underpowered and crackly at its higher volume. The screen is a good size, not the portable theater size of some others but I'm happy with it. There is a quality feeling to it and it is certainly quite heavy, but I think thats a good thing. There is an aluminum plate on the back which gives it an industrial feel. This is my first qwerty phone so I have no frame of reference but I will say I'm getting faster...

Great product!
I've had my MyFi for a week now and I must say that it has exceeded my expectations. I do live in an urban area where reception is great (DC) but I find that I rarely use the live programming when on the run and just rely on my recorded content.First what's great about the MyFi:1) I'm new to satellite radio and was very impressed with the variety of music available. I've discovered lots of artists that while I had my Ipod I never knew existed. Add to that the great live events, talk radio, and other content.2) XM2Go works flawlessly. But for the limitations (below) it works flawlessly. Pop your MyFi in the cradle at night and in the morning you have 5+ hours of content. Note, the box says 5 hours but in reality if you record any of the more compressed channels (talk etc.) you will end up being able to record more than 5 hours! I believe when I record music channels I actually get closer to 6 hours of recorded content. Once you have your...
Great radio, still some kinks to work out
First let me say that I have only had the MyFi since Christmas (yes, my wife was one ofthe people who actually got one). I waited until now to write a review so that I couldget a good feel for the product. Some other reviewers on this page have laid out some ofmy pluses and minuses, so I may be reaffirming their comments. First, the great-1) The programming. XM has tons of stations. I listen to a wide variety of music, and Iwas able to fill up the 30 available presets rather quickly. One form of music Iparticularily like is techno/trance, and there are 3 channels that play some form of it.Also, there are 3 comedy channels, and on 2 of them they run segments of stand-uproutines from pretty much any comic out there. Very funny. Also, I paid extra for "HighVoltage", which is the "Opie and Anthony" show. In my opinion, well worth the money.Plus, XM has all MLB teams, Big Ten Football, and many other extras. I love...
I love this thing
It would have been 5 stars except the personal antenna is awful. I bought a different personal antenna from the XM Fan Store and it works great.

Is Omega K-9 Eclipse 2-way car alarm system any good?

I found one on eBay for $85. I couldn't find any reviews online, so I'm wondering if anyone has used Omega! Here's the link:

They can be decent some times, however Viper alarms are the best you can buy, and can be bought for $99 at some stores, a wonderful buy, and can be installed in 1 hour

Don't Exceed Sensible Car Insurance Excess Levels

31.12.69
The difference in premiums is only £25 when comparing a £200 excess (£496 total premium cost) to a £400 excess (£472 premium cost). "The amount of voluntary excess on a policy is the money you are willing to pay should you need to make a claim, in addition to any compulsory excess the insurer will add - the combined excesses could be several hundred pounds. It's quick and easy to check the excess level when researching insurance policies so ensure you're aware of the total excess level before you purchase. Peter Harrison, car insurance expert at  MoneySupermarket , said: "Motorists looking to cut costs may assume altering the voluntary excess level to a higher amount will result in a lower premium price.   It's crucial to set the total excess at a level you can afford to pay, and one which makes making a claim worthwhile.

Film Review: The Next Three Days 2010

Source: Man Woman & Myth

In brief, The Next Thee Days is about an innocent woman sent to prison for murder whilst the real killer – another woman – is never caught nor even suspected. Make no mistake, there are the green shoots of change in the movie industry as regards the portrayal of criminals and, more importantly, the portrayal of men. The first thing that struck me about this film is how overwhelmingly positive it is about men in a number of ways. I can’t stress how unusual this is and how important: men tend to be aberrant in some way in the majority of films....
