THIEVE's BEWARE
Good car alarm with loud siren and expandable. Hard to self-install if you don't have any electrical/audio experience but you can install in 1/2 day if you are somewhat mechanical (depending of vehicle). I like the blue flashing light to let would-be thieves know it's armed. Shock sensor is pretty sensitive but adjustable and key FOB have good range. Overall this is a very good system with expandable capabilities

New Alarm as described!
My old Viper died. I went to Best Buy and this alarm was $299 which included installation which I did not need. This was my first purchase on Amazon, and I was amazed at the price, skeptical of what I would get. It was a brand new alarm, original packaging. After 10 years, I only needed to rerun the shock sensor which had a different connector, and install the brain in place of the old one! Works like a charm! Thank you!

Disappointing - no warranty
I had this alarm professionally installed by BestBuy.com (including keyless entry and door actuators). It worked great until cold weather set in. Now on colder nights (a couple of degrees below freezing point) the alarm generates series of chirps at random intervals (shock warnings). BestBuy tried to reduce shock sensitivity but it didn't help. The alarm awakes my neighbors and family members so lately I've been disarming it for the night and locking each door manually. Now, regarding the Viper warranty. When you go to viper.com site the first thing you see is a warning: "If you purchase a VIPER system without installation or from an unauthorized dealer your warranty will be VOID. (...) Avoid purchasing VIPER products from the following websites:" What follows is a list of a couple of dozen of most popular internet stores including amazon.com, buy.com, newegg.com etc. Naturally, have I known about the lack of warranty beforehand, I'd never buy it in the first place. A great car alarm
I just had this alarm installed recently and I must say I works great. All the features work as advertised and having the two-way remote is great for added security and peace of mind. I haven't tested the range of the remote yet but it works fine from across a large parking lot. I definitely recommend buying this alarm from Amazon and having it installed professionally. You will save probably $100 over buying it from the shop that installs it.

Great product
At first, I was skeptical to purchase this online from Amazon. I didn't want to pay anything more than what I had to for installation. The product came with everything I needed for installation. The product is great! The 2-way remote is kind of bulky and takes up space on your keychain but if you're paranoid like me and always wonder if you locked your doors or not, it is the greatest invention ever. It shows you that your car is either locked or not locked. That way you do not have to walk all the way back to your car to check if the car is locked.

Amazing Deal
Bought this alarm last week and I have to say that it's a pretty decent deal. Same alarm would go for around double the price in any store and that doesn't include installation! Everything works and no problems were noticed. The alarm arrived in less then 2 days, so that was great. Have it professionally installed if you do not have experience installing alarms. Overall great product and highly recommended.

Works for me!
I installed this with a Clifford 50.5x in my 2001 silverado. I haven't gotten any false alarms with my system but I took it to an empty parking lot and tweaked it pretty good.If you set it up right you won't have any problems, placement doesn't really matter as long as you don't do something weird like stick it inside a pillar or under the carpet or something.Just grab some 3m double sided sticky tape (something good so it will hold in extreme heat) and stick it somewhere it can have air space around it (at least that's what I would do / did). I stuck mine behind the center console; Plenty of air space around it and you can't see it.Play with the sensitivity until you are happy with it. How I tested mine was using my key-chain, 1-2 keys is good, just grab the ring or your remote on the key-chain and tap the glass (tap lightly, don't go scratching your glass!!) with the keys. This will simulate the frequency of breaking glass, and you can tweak it so...

Works like a charm
My truck was boken into 3 times. The first time, I had no alarm, but the cops caught the guys! The second time I had the alarm on, but was set too low and they got into my bed-mounted tool box (put a pad lock on it after that). The third time I was in bed awake watching tv. As soon as they poped the glass ( I heard it) the alarm sounded and they took off. This sound sensor did its job! After this third break in I added the Radar motion detector and had the dash security light changed from red to the much brighter blue.If you are thinking about putting an alarm on your truck / car, I recommend getting the addon sensors! Like me, you may whish you did.

i havent had a chance to test the product, but again the only way to test it is to break a window on my vehicle. Still, I am very happy with my purchase. I am thinking about getting a few more accesories for my alarm system. Amazon is the top seller in my list.

Car Remote Starter / Alarm Review
I just bought this model last week and had it installed. There were several remote starters to chose from, and feedback from end users were all over the board. Let me start by saying I'm not the biggest fan of buying anything that has a "5 star" rating from one person and a "1 star" rating from the next. That being said, under that rule alone finding a starter was near impossible. So, I kept my "must haves" to be as specific as possible to rule out as many starters as possible. I needed to have the following: 1.) Something that would let me know the car had successfully started; 2.) a remote that could be recharged; 3.) a remote that would work despite being inside of a building (or otherwise obstructed). Put those must haves together and this is the remote you are looking for. After heeding the advice of nearly every review I seemingly read, I decided I would shell out the cash to have a professional install the remote. Good thing, too. The installation lasted a whopping 4.5...

Good alarm but be prepared.
I installed this system by my self on my 2004 Ford explorer. Viper doesn't like for you to install it by yourself, they want you to pay 400-600 to have a "pro" to install it and take shortcuts. The hardest thing to do is to find the wires in your car and to match them up with the wires that go into the brain. They only tell you very vague information about their wires. The only way to learn more about what wires is to become a licensed viper dealer, pay them money, sell their alarms and then you can get their wiring information. Welcome to the 21st century Viper, google works very well and made my install successful and free. I give this company a .5 star review but the product a 5 star.Modules I bought. (Required for coded keys)...

I also have a DEI Viper 5901 (the previous version of the 5704), and an AutoPage RS855 LCD.---Background---I have always done and prefer to do all my own installs. Not only is it something that I have the skills for and I enjoy doing, but I don't like other people disrespecting my property. Nobody respects anything that's not theirs, and I want to ensure everything is done to perfection without ruining anything. If you are technical and have patience, these systems are not difficult to install by any means. It's just a matter of knowing a little bit about electricity (12 Volts DC), locating the wires in your car that you need to tap onto, knowing how to carefully remove the panels in your car without breaking anything, and using the proper test tools, connectors, and wire wrap to make a very clean install without even cutting wires or drilling...
