I was impressed...
As good as you'll find... It holds a deceptively large amount of small items. I have a topeak alien II, a cell phone, car key, tube patch, and small pump in mine. It is not pretty on the bike, but functional and secure. The best feature though is it's water resistance. I dumped my bike in a stream (rider error) and there was several minutes during which it was fully submerged. All of my items remained perfectly dry. It was worth every penny and then some.
nice large capacity bag, that attaches to the seat post with a damn RUBBER STRAP!!!
Made primarily of Denier Cordura, a heavy duty nylon, the Avenir Bigmouth is a fairly well built underseat bag, with over 100 cubic inches of capacity. For protection and easy cleaning, the bottom and lower half of the sides of the bag, are coated with a layer of plastic sheeting, which repels water, and helps to keep the contents from getting wet. Applying a little silicone spray, helps to loosen up the zippers. The bag has an adjustable strap that is used to secure it to the underside of the seat. The strap has lots of slack. The construction of bike seats varies, as some have springs below the seat, but there should be a way to make this system work. The rails and springs under the seat, will affect the angle that the bag hangs at, and this in turn affects how the bag is secured to the seat post. From the product description and photo, at one time this bag utilized a nylon strap and Velcro to secure the bag to the seat post. This unfortunately is...
Totes our stuff!
We bought this for a trip where we'd be out riding around near a lake (away from the rest of our gear). We needed a way to tote anything we could think of that we might need for our bikes, so a flat tire or something wouldn't put an end to our riding and put a start to our walking. We considered a backpack, but that seemed too large and bulky for the amount of stuff we needed to take. Besides, I don't want to personally carry anything that I can mount to a vehicle. We had looked at a few other bike specific bags, but chose this one because of its shape, quality of materials, and style of mounting (we looked at them all in person). It just straps around the under-seat bars and to the seatpost. The rear strap is adjustable and can be tightened in order to compress the bag a little so your stuff won't rattle. This bag is plenty large enough for all the things we needed, but it's not large enough to get in the way. What we put...

Good Product
This is a very good product. I bought the "Small" size and it fits right below my saddle. It attaches. to the seat post and to the bottom of the saddle. To give you an idea of what it carries for me: 1 replacemente tube, 3 tire levers, 1 Glue/Patches kit, my ID and insurance card, money, my Chapstick and my Cellphone.
The munchin of bike bags
I know it is the small size, but it is SMALL. But that is exactly what I wanted, just something to hold my keys and cell phone. Product Features says "Reflective tape on sides" which is untrue, there is a small strip of it on the rear of the bag though. It actually looks pretty cool when mounted on my Schwinn Hybrid. The rear velcro straps need to be about an inch longer for my install though, so 4 stars instead of 5.
Very good saddle bag considering the price.
The bag is very secure on the bike, no worries there. The small size can basically fit what ever you were going to put in your pockets. Looks fine, the velcro is covered, so it does not look ugly. Looks very subtle under the seat. However the logo was not stamped on mine right, it is crooked and off center. Either way your better off coloring it in black with a sharpie or putting a sticker on it. Another thing to consider is that the zipper does not glide at all, so you have to take your time with it. Overall it gets the job done, with the least money possible spent.

Didn't Fit
The bag is nice, looks quite durable. However, it has a rigid frame inside that just wouldn't let it fit my Cannondale F5. Also, I'm not sure why, but it has a rather large curved backpack-strap-like piece on it which might get in the way of a water bottle if you have one. The total size of it is pretty big for what it holds, which is a normal sized wallet and keys, cell phone, and thats about it. I gave it to a friend, it fits his bike fine and he likes it. Just take a good look at the angle in the picture and make sure your frame has a similar angle, since it doesn't give you much ability to stretch it to fit.
Strap broke Ist time I tried to use it
The first time I attached the bag one of the velcro straps broke. The rest of the bag seems to be of good quality but the straps are delicate which makes it useless.
Kind of Small.
Overall, the bag is not bad. I had to bind it quite tightly to my frame as the angle was a bit small. However, it is not ideal for carrying your smart phone. An iPhone or similar sized device barely fits. And the flexible shoulder guard, if used, will put these devices in danger of being crushed. This was primarily for my smart phone, as normally my other items are a credit card and ID. It costs >$5 to return, so I might as well keep it and get another under-the-seat bag from Walmart for my cell. Outside of that, the bag is fine for a normal wallet and garage door opener.

Topeak Dry Bag For IPhone
I got this to be able to use my iPhone 4S on the bike with the GPS App from Motion X. I did not know it was available from AMAZON and paid more at my local bike shop. It works well and it is securely attached to the handle bars. If you take the phone out of the case, it goes in and out quickly. I have used it on two rides and it functions like I hoped it would. Being water proof, it can stay on in the rain and not leak. A good choice as you can keep your maps up, or GPS program on and refer to it on occasion.
Hot under the collar
This product is a great concept and will probably work great in mild climate areas. But in sunny California during high heat training the case causes the phone to over heat. I do a majority of my cycling at the high temps to help with endurance and I run a cycle gps program and the locator. With the phone on power saver it gets hot if it is placed on the handle bars. I have no doubt it is the best water proof protector for my iPhone the seal is great.
Just about perfect
I bought this in my LBS, originally for use with an original Motorola Droid. With that device, it fit my need perfectly. The phone size was almost exactly that of the iPhone it's made for; the only minor downside was that the differences in design of those devices made the case cover the light sensor of the phone. That made it go very dark when on the automatic brightness setting - not a problem for me as all I use it for is recording my ride, not for interactive use while riding.I since got a Droid X. That device is just about the size limit for it - it fits very tightly, and has to be worked out by pushing up from the bottom. I use a double-sided strip of velcro to extend the flap - it's just a shade too short to flip down with the Droid X.The first ride I went on with my Droid X in it was in an absolute deluge, and the phone stayed perfectly dry. The pack fits perfectly on top of my stem with the included F55 fixer. It's a bit too big for the F66...

What are some "boutique bike shops" outside of the US? Maybe in Tokyo, London, or any other major city?

Jan 14, 2010 by VICKtorious | Posted in Cycling

In addition to the various well-known bike accessories that most stores carry, I'm also looking for shops that carry brands similar to: Mash SF, Macaframa, Cadence, House of Commons, SAG, Seagull Bags, etc...

They charge more because it's a "boutique."

Where can I find market research on bicycle riders?

Mar 21, 2010 by Tori | Posted in Cycling

I want to start a small business that sells stylish bike accessories (baskets, messenger bags etc)to female bike owners. I first want to find out if there is really a large enough market for me to make the endeavor profitable. Where can I find low cost

F.K.

I would research on line for this info. My second choice would be to contact some of the larger manufacturer's marketing departments to get the names of some industry support groups or industry trade journals.

It's quick to remove, so your bag is ready to go with you and you don't have to worry about your bike or bag getting unwanted attention while you are away from it.  . Handlebar packs are comparable in size to a basket but enclosed. Panniers or saddle bags come in many styles and attach to a rear bike rack. Handlebar totes are new to me.   Most look like a regular tote, but one side has an attachment to secure to your handlebars. They come in many different sizes and could interfere with your peddles, so be sure that the panniers fit your bike correctly.   Many have a sporty style, though they can be found in a variety of designs. They're perfect companion for a larger grocery trip or for the serious long distance rider.

Packing List

Tomorrow Aaron, Kristin and I depart on the M/V Matanuska ferry to Prince Rupert for a 1200 mile bike trip on the Yellowhead highway 16 where we will bike through Banff, Jasper and end in Glacier national park. His initial pre-trip blog consisted of a packing list that I use in the early stages of forming my packing list for this trip. We will be our bikes for 3 weeks, 21 total days and are planning to average around 60-miles per day give or take. Last year about this time my buddy Heang took a cross country bike trip. This trip we have been planning and anticipating since last summer.
